Wo beg to submit the following representations with regard to our cxclusion from the Temporary House Allowance of $30,00
a month which has boon granted to all our brother officers as from 1st January 1913, but has been refused to us.
2. The following paragraphs are taken from the "Precis of Correspondence on the subject or increases of Salary" laid on the Council Table on 10th April, 1913.
"5.- Overseers, Public Works Department.
"The existing scales for Overseers were:-

"1st Class Overseers £240 £270 by £15lll. "2nd Class Overseers £165
£225 by £15111. "A list of changes in the staff during the "previous 5 years showed that the scale for "OVONBUCYS of the 1st class had not proved
"adequate to provent the resignation of four "valuable men and that in 5 years there had been "eight dismisanls and eleven resignations in a "staff or 10 2nd class Overseers.
"The Governor considered that if the
*ecommendation for altering the rate of exchange "at which sterling salarics are paid were adopted "and if the quarters which were occupied by BONG
"of the let class Overseers on payment of rent
"and the quarters which he had recommended should
"he built for them, wore pranted to them rent from,
"the position of the 1st class men would he
"sufficiently improved".
